At Superpedestrian, I worked as a Project Manager, leading interdisciplinary projects to enhance and sustain user experience on our first generation scooter fleet

As a result of a rapidly changing startup environment I have had the opportunity at Superpedestrian to work in a variety of roles supporting and driving the development of various scooter accessories. The work I did has allowed the company to gain new markets as well as maintain our positive relationship with multiple cities in complex and variable regulatory environments. I have had the opportunity to do everything from help coordinate launch efforts in Chicago to drive the development of a custom retrofittable scooter seat to improve scooter accessibility while maintaining our presence in Baltimore. And as a result I had the opportunity to work closely with a variety of interdisciplinary stakeholders such as field service mechanics, global policy specialists, engineers, product managers, and overseas suppliers.

As part of my work in the Program Management Office (PMO) I also had the opportunity to be part of a large-scale shift in company philosophy that has allowed Superpedestrian to deploy higher quality products and ultimately stretch the lifespan and profitability of each scooter as a result. We transitioned our approach from one that was transactional with suppliers to one that established long term relationships and set clear standards and expectations for part quality. As the manager of each of these projects I often worked directly with overseas suppliers to retrieve and analyze part quality documentation and coordinate with engineers to deliver feedback to our suppliers on part improvements and test procedures. Through this I honed my skills in interpersonal communication and supplier selection and communication in taking products from early manufacturing stages through to deployment and launch.

Most recently I have worked on developing and implementing a comprehensive, engineering-wide, change control system. This process ensures that the products we devote resources to align with the product roadmap and company long-term priorities, as well as tracking those projects through the approval process. and into execution.

I had some past experience in engineering leadership during my time in Generate, but applying that knowledge to industry, especially in later stages of the development cycle posed a unique challenge. Superpedestrian’s fast paced and fluctuating environment gave me the opportunity to build a versatile skillset and gave me exposure to a lot of challenging situations. Getting to manage projects through their full lifecycle also gave me insight and experience with every stage of the hardware product development cycle from lending input to PRD creation, to reviewing test plans and production control plans.
